The Marble Falls area was visited on Tuesday morning by a group of Lakota spiritualists preparing for their 17th annual sun dance ceremony.
A group of roughly 100 were seen on Tuesday carefully cutting down a cottonwood tree on property behind Grand Buffet on RR 1431 for use in their ceremony on Wednesday.
The tree was wrapped with a tarp and transported to another location north of Burnet where the ceremony will occur.
“It’s a four-day long ceremony,” said member Wally Newton, from Burnet County.
Newton said the group has gathered every year for 17 years and comes from around the globe.
