Joyce Lyvonne JamesJoyce Lyvonne James, 84, of Sunrise Beach Village, Texas passed away on May 1, 2014. She was born to Walter and Maria (Sims) Badgett on December19, 1929 in Houston, Texas.

Joyce was an EMT for the Sunrise Beach Volunteer Fire Department and one of the inaugural First Reponders, founder of “Wish Upon a Star” Foundation which was a non-profit that was a second hand store in Medina, Texas that served the needs of families at Christmastime. Mrs. James delivered Meals on Wheels to elderly shut-ins, was a member of the Sunrise Beach Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, and was a volunteer for a doctor at X-Tattoo which removed tattoos from gang members so that they could start a new life. She was compassionate and loving Christian. Joyce enjoyed fishing, motorcycle racing, NASCAR, and bird watching.

Mrs. James is survived by her son, Barry James of Sunrise Beach, Texas, sisters, Lue Shupe of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Sue Locust of Tucson, Arizona, and Lavern Gresham of Victoria, Texas, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Theo James, son, Don Rick James, brother, Kelly “Buddy” Garrett, and a sister, Lottie Oldham
