In the Stableford format, players received 1 point for a net bogey, 2 points for a net par, 3 points for a net birdie, and 5 points for a net eagle. Roper scored an astounding 46 points in a round that included 4 net eagles. “I got off to a terrible start, playing the first 3 holes in 4 over par.  I played the next 14 holes in 6 under par gross. You just never know when lightening is going to strike-I’m as surprised as anyone”.   Roper’s score just edged the 45 point total of Chuck “One Putt” Strasburg, who said, while choking back tears, “I had a personal best round on Slick Rock, but it was not enough to catch Les.
